Maria Tavarez is a self-taught expressionist abstract artist pulling influences from Georgia O'KEEFE, Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, and Paul Cézzane. Maria’s medium of choice is Acrylic, Spray Paint, Coarse texture paints and charcoal. She has attended some workshops with Eric McRay at Raleigh's C-MAC and is currently mentoring with Peter Marin professor and artist. Maria has been exhibiting around the Triangle area throughout 2023 and has no plans on slowing down with 6 exhibits under her belt this year. With a determination to use art for mental health awareness her work tends to be thought provoking and brings elements of nostalgia from her home country of the Dominican Republic. Maria is an active volunteer throught the Triangle and hopes to spread the movement of art as a healing measure.
