I saw the work of Lawren Harris, a Canadian modernist, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston several years ago. I was awed by his subject, style, and color. When I started this piece, he wasn’t in mind until I started playing with the blues in the snow bank. I think it often takes time for the things you see to manifest in your art; a gestation period, so to speak. Yellow Chair of the Snow Banks was finished as I was simultaneously creating my TeaScapes series. While this work doesn't include tea packaging in the work, it is very similar in nature to the message of the TeaScapes which is an invitation to sit in the space.
